The R(E)volution will be televised and streamed and snapped and instagramed...

'And the future of the whole world is in your hands. You can make or break. But, you are really here to make the world and not to break it.'

Swami Satchidananda
Woodstock, 1969

In order for anything new to be created, in order to EVOLVE, something must be destroyed, there must be transformation and transfiguration. Must like Phoenix, that rises from the ashes, re-born, to set ablaze, shine, and fly. Not only do we see this within the patterns of Mother Nature and mythology, but within our own personal trial and tribulations of our Ego, among politics, and civilizations, the list goes on. To think there are no patters to new societies, or ages, is just plain old irresponsible, and ignorant. If you'd like to continue your life that way, please feel free to close your browser, and stay in your 'the world is flat' cave.

In Hindu mythology, we have 3 major players who help us understand this (an in most mythological traditions). The major player in the times at the moment is Siva. The god of destruction, or realization, of completion. Taking it the next step deeper, we shift our attention to his counterpart, the goddess Kali, whom we are all currently living in the age of. 'Kali Yuga' was predicted to include such atrocities including, but not limited to the following: Humans will openly display animosity towards one another, rulers will become unreasonable, ignorance of Dharma, people will become addicted to drugs and alcohol, people will take vows and break them soon after, people will have thoughts of murder with no justification and will see nothing wrong in that. Sounds like a fun time, yah?

It's painful. By this time, most of us have decided to hide our heads in the sand, because we can't 'deal with it', because 'politics aren't polite', while the other half, has decided that what this world could use is more hate and inequality. I have found myself breaking into tears of sadness for the people subjected to these words and the energy it has ensued within others. My heart breaks just a little bit, anytime this hate is brought to the surface. What about you?

What we tend to forget, is that we have the power to shift consciousness, and awareness, but first we must start with ourselves. The problem with this is, that it's not as fast as violence, not as fast as posting a verbally hurtful tweet. Those are all quick fixes, utilized to make those, too lazy to get off their Asanas, feel a little better about themselves, and their accomplishments to society. It's easy to post on social media, to believe what you read on an internet article. But what do they do to really connect to the problem, to themselves and those around them? Not much.

When I searched for articles on the 70's, a time full of chaos, hate, disgust, and racial inequality, these are the key words that came up:

The Vietnam War. Racial tensions. Inflation and unemployment. Environmental calamity. The battle over women's equality.

Not only problems of the 70's, we have now come full circle. A nation under change. 'The times, they are a changing.' And the world can feel it, honestly, it's freaking us all out. We're comfy, we're cozy. Hate is easy, what's hard is love. No one has time for that.

"For only love can conquer hate."
Marvin Gaye, 'What's Going On'

I know, enough of this Hippy bullshit. But the thing is...it's not really bullshit. It's complete truth. Our world needs to heal, and in order to do that, we must ALL begin to practice a little more LOVE, ACCEPTANCE, and UNDERSTANDING. This won't happen overnight and I'm not quite sure how we achieve this, which is probably why I'm still teaching Yoga, and changing lives through movement, and not sitting in the UN. What I do know, is that we can't find this love in others not like us, until we find it in ourselves. And that shit...that takes a lifetime. Who has time for that? Humanity does.

All we need is a spark. A spark of light. Much like what happened in 1969 at Woodstock. Our society was sick of it, listen to the music of the 60's and 70's, it's charged with contemplation, with questions, and with encouragements of love. And even with Lady Gaga's new album that released today "Joanne", full of songs to unite, to inspire, and to ignite our flame, just a little more. To help facilitate more cultural responsibility.

The time for R(E)volution is now, the LovEvolution is here.

And it starts with us at the most basic and simple level. From helping your neighbor on the street, to paying it forward in the Starbucks drive-thru, to having a meaningful and personal conversation, while truly paying attention, maybe, even just giving a hug...because your felt like it... to a stranger! Yes, I'm crazy! But a good crazy.

If we don't change, it's going to hurt, more than it does now. Our children, their children, society, what will come of it, if we don't start planting the seeds now? Much like a garden, we must plant the seeds, tend the soil, water the earth, and nurture it with love, and light, and most importantly, challenge ourselves to not drown it with water or completely ignore it, when it's not growing as fast as we wanted it to.

What if we started treating society and growth much like we treated our garden? Are you ready for change? Are you willing to try? I know I am. And you know where to find me.

With love, light, and equality.

" Angel Down" - Lady Gaga,

I confess I am lost
In the age of the social
On our knees, take a test
To be lovin' and grateful

Shots were fired on the street
By the church where we used to meet
Angel down, angel down
But the people just stood around

I'm a believer, it's a trial
Foolish and weaker, oh, oh, oh
I'd rather save an angel down
I'm a believer, it's chaos
Where are our leaders? Oh, oh, oh
I'd rather save an angel down

Doesn't everyone belong
In the arms of the sacred
Why do we pretend we're wrong?
Has our young courage faded?

Shots were fired on the street
By the church where we used to meet
Angel down, angel down
Why do people just stand around?

I'm a believer, it's a trial
Foolish and weaker, oh, oh, oh
I'd rather save an angel down
I'm a believer, it's chaos
Where are our leaders? Oh, oh, oh
I'd rather save an angel down

I'm a believer, it's a trial
Foolish and weaker, oh, oh, oh
I'd rather save an angel down
I'm a believer, it's chaos
Where are our leaders? Oh, oh, oh
I'd rather save an angel down
