I alone cannot change the world...

My goal, many moons ago, when I started the 'Average Yogi' movement, was to give a platform, to those of us who still feel lost in the shuffle. To those of us, who regardless of how many people we fill our lives with, naturally go to the dark side of isolation. To cast  stone, that hopefully, vibrated across digital waters into the unknown. The word 'average' meaning, 'average', 'typical', 'ordinary'. Yet juxtaposing it with another word like 'extraordinary', to emphasize that we, are all like one another, but with our likeness, comes exceptional and unique stories. We go through heart break, graduations, self-sabotage, fall in love, failed, felt inadequate, gone to Yoga and 'peaked' at Savasana, laughed so hard we've cried, the list goes on. Yet what makes us extraordinary, is not the pictures we post on instagram, titles we hold, or awards we have, but it's the stories we have lived through, the light we choose and dare to show the world. That's what makes us special.

The hard news is, not everyone knows this. Not everyone understands, that it's ok to be basic, to be 'average'. Because the secret is, we all are. We are universally average. What makes us special, is how we decide to turn our lemons into lemonade, how we choose to shine our light, and how we decide to see the world and it's complete oneness. We are the cosmic connection the universe has been missing. We extend from every edge of the Earth, in all the nooks, and the crannies, in the power of our voices and the lyrics of our songs, we are the UNIVERSE. We are Universal.

This is the only truth.

What I ask of you, reader, is that if you relate to what I'm saying and are nodding to every word, find someone, ANYONE, show an act of random kindness, allow yourself to witness their 'gifts', without barriers or excuses. Whether it's a note to say thank you, a phone call, donating money, giving a hug, telling someone what you think their superpower is or just holding physical space. These small acts of generosity can be life-changing, you never know; a simple smile can remind someone deep in the dark that this world is full of love, that they are seen, and most importantly not alone.

And if you're reading this and you're not sure. I am glad you are here. That means there is a small piece of you, ready to leave the darkness, even just for a little visit.

I know that I alone cannot change the world, but together, through our collective efforts, we can inspire an awareness of the truest essence of universal nature, that lies deep in the core of the ether, and that is love.
